We’ve put together a list of the most popular 2018 Calgary events for pet owners to attend on their own, as well as some pet-friendly events and fundraisers where your furry friends can join in the fun!

Summer Lovin’ 1950’s Vintage Prom – A Benefit Gala for Pawsitive Match Rescue Foundation

Step into our time machine and join us for the “Summer Lovin’” 1950’s Vintage Prom, our first annual fundraising gala in benefit of Pawsitive Match Rescue Foundation!

We’re going to shake, rattle and roll the night away with a live band and Calgary’s own, Britt Walchuck to sing us into the 50’s. Light hor d’oeuvres will be served throughout the night to fuel all your twists and shouts all over the dance floor! Is the Hand Jive not your thing? There will be a complimentary photo booth worth flipping your wig over, and a silent auction table worth writing home about. Adult sodas and beverages will be served at the cash bar!

Valentine’s Day Pet Photo Shoot – Oops-A-Dazy Animal Rescue

This unique spin on meow-ga will offer complimentary wine and cheese after the class is finished and a shelter tour to add a little splash to your weekend.

ARTS Seniors Valentine’s Movie Fundraiser

National Service Dogs’ Easter Egg Hunt for Dogs

Each year, thousands of plastic eggs are filled with dog treats and hidden over a defined area of a local park. Each egg contains a dog treat and a sticker, representing a chance to win one of the hundreds of great prizes!

Calgary Cat Association “Kitties in Blooms Cat Show”

When: April 14-15, 2018 10:00 a.m – 5:00 p.m

The Calgary Cat Show is held twice per year and gives cat owners the chance to compete to win titles in various categories. Both pedigreed and companion (or moggy) cats are can enter. Attendees will also find many vendors marketing their products that are for both human and feline use.

Calgary Pet Expo

When: April 21 – 22, 2018
Where: Spruce Meadows, Equiplex
Can You Bring Your Pet? No

Pet Expo is a 2-day consumer trade show that is open to the public. At the show, you will find hundreds of pets, pet products, service providers, entertainers, clubs and organizations that cater to pets. The show strives to include all types of pets, anything from dogs & cats, to reptiles and other small caged exotics.

Dog Fest Spring Fling

DogFest is an indoor/outdoor doggy playdate, tradeshow/ marketplace, portrait studio and fundraiser for Pals Pets. This dog-friendly event will be held from 10:00 AM to 4:00 and entrance is FREE for all dogs and their people.

Calgary Humane Society Dog JogCalgary Humane Society Dog Jog

Dog Jog is a celebration of family and friendship! Calgary Humane Society uses the funds raised at Dog Jog to find loving forever families for thousands of animals each year. This year we will be celebrating families of all shapes and sizes by packing South Glenmore Park full of family-friendly (and Fido-friendly!) activities for people and pooches of all ages to enjoy.

Grab a bite to eat from local food trucks or a refreshing beer from the folks at Village Brewery in our new all-age food + beverage garden called the Mutt & Mingle. Shop for goodies in the Barkingville Market, visit the bouncy castles in the Kids Zone or direct your pooch to the “Paw Spa” for some pampering; we have something planned for everyone!

Lilac Festival

Zulu K9 Challenge

WE ARE NOT YOUR REGULAR OCR (OBSTACLE COURSE RACE) …..We are more of a survival challenge, our runs are set up in different terrains offering different challenges and sequences to overcome. Much like how our ancestors survived, there was never knowing what to expect, but they were ready to face and survive it. Become a  savage for a day and survive Zulu Challenge

Marda Gras Street Festival

This annual, fun-filled, family-friendly event attracts over 35,000 visitors from all over Calgary. The streets of Marda Loop will come alive for the 32nd time with this New Orleans-themed festival. Enter your pet into the Pageant to win some great prizes!

Cocktails for Critters

An unforgettable and highly entertaining evening is planned; including ‘Rescues on the Runway’, Animal Alumni meet and greet, distinctive silent auction offerings, complimentary wine hour, signature drink and an incredible culinary sampling. Proceeds from the evening’s event will help to support Calgary Humane Society in caring for the over 5,500 animals who arrive at our facility each year.

The Calgary Marathon Society invites you to be a part of Calgary’s only Halloween race happening at dusk! This is a family-friendly AND pet-friendly event taking place the Saturday before Halloween come rain or shine (or snow!) The Dash of Doom proudly supports the charity Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society (AARCS).

The animals in our care love Christmas because it is the time of the year where we get to spoil them rotten with treats, toys and of course a whole lot of LOVE! We have been celebrating our furry friends during the holidays by hosting an annual event at the shelter called Christmas Party for the Animals. It is an especially festive event that will surely get you and your family into the holiday spirit!
