We’ve put together a list of the most popular 2018 Edmonton area events for pet owners to attend on their own, as well as some pet-friendly events and fundraisers where your furry friends can join in the fun!

January

Edmonton Pet Expo

When: January 26 – 27, 2018
Where: Edmonton Expo Centre

The Pet Expo is also all about FUN. With plenty of presentations, animal demonstrations, agility courses, and sporty dog teams, there is so much to see and do. We have all kinds of fluffy, feathery, and scaly friends for you to interact with as well. Is your pet dying for new toys, treats, and more? Explore the products and services available to owners and pets all in one convenient place. For everyone’s safety (animals included), please leave your own pets at home.

BARS Painting Party

When: February 24, 2018 – 6:15 pm – 9:15 pm
Where: 5825 140 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T5A 1G5, Canada
Can You Bring Your Pet? No

Join us for an evening of painting and fun, while supporting BARS Rescue! Doors will open at 6:15 pm and painting will start at 7:00 pm. Tickets for this fun evening are $55.00 and include one drink! $30 of each ticket sold will be donated back to BARS!

BARS Tattoos for Rescues

When: March 3, 2018 – 9:00 am – 7:00 pm

Back by popular demand! Join us on Saturday, March 3, 2018, from 9 am – 7 pm at Second Skin Tattoos for our FOURTH tattoo fundraising event! Tattoos are $105 (including GST) Tattoo designs to be announced! Reserve your spot by emailing rescueranger77@outlook.com

Walks “N” Wags Pet First Aid Course

When: March 25, 2018 – 9:00 am – 7:00 pm
Where: Edmonton Humane Society
Can You Bring Your Pet? Yes

This Hands-On Course Teaches First Aid Skills for Both Cats and Dogs! Some of the skills and knowledge covered include CPR, choking skills, splinting, bandaging, how to deal with poisoning, heatstroke, preventative medicine, and more! Certificate provided upon successful completion of the course. Participants must attend the full day to receive a certificate. Dogs are welcome to attend as long as they are up to date on their vaccinations and are friendly with people and dogs. Proof of vaccinations must be brought with you on the day of course. The course runs from 9 AM to 7 PM and includes a short morning break, a longer lunch break, and a short afternoon break.

Edmonton International Cat FestEdmonton International Cat Festival

The Edmonton International Cat Festival is the only festival of its kind in Canada, bringing together cat lovers to celebrate cats and cat culture, while raising money and awareness for important cat rescue organizations! #YEGCatFest donates 100% of proceeds back to local rescue organizations.

Haute Dawg Gala and Fashion Show

Haute Dawg Fashion Show EdmontonWhen: June 2, 2018 – 5:00 pm
Where: Westin Edmonton
Can You Bring Your Pet? No

Join us for an evening that celebrates Hope, Heart, Humour, and High Fashion with your best friends, and most importantly, our canine friends. Featuring special guests and exciting main-stage fashions, one special live auction, silent auctions, and a few surprises! Funds raised at this event will be used to purchase a mobile surgical unit to provide care for distressed animals in marginalized areas for spaying and neutering. It will also be mobilized to disaster areas where animals need assistance.

Pets in the Park 5k

Where: William Hawrelak Park
Can You Bring Your Pet? Yes!

Pets in the Park, Edmonton’s Official Pet Festival, is back for another year and it will be a howlin’ good time and a ton of “doggone” fun! Lace up your sneakers, grab your pooch and bring your family down to William Hawrelak Park. This is the only day pets are welcome in the park, so lace up your sneakers, stretch those paws and bring the family down for sun, fun and a dog-gone good time!


July

Muttstock 

Muttstock Dog Festival EdmontonWhen: July 7th, 2018 – 11:00 am – 6:00 pm
Where: Eastwood Community Hall

Muttstock is an annual outdoor music festival and gathering of dog lovers! We strive to provide free or low-cost family and dog-friendly activities, including vendors, demonstrations, and information from all over the Edmonton area. We raise money for animal rescues in the area through our charity barbecue, vendor fees, fundraisers, and donations. All of the proceeds raised from Muttstock go back to the rescues and non-profit organizations that participate in helping us create such a wonderful festival.  Muttstock is held at Eastwood Community League, which offers a large space with a green field, waterpark, off-leash park, activities in the hall, and of course, a stage with live music! Dogs must be on a leash at all times! BYOC Bring your own chair!


August

Edmonton Kennel Club Summer Show

Where: Whitemud Equine Centre, 12505 Keillor Rd NW, Edmonton, AB

The show will be held outdoors at the beautiful river valley site.

Pit Bull Days hosted by the Pitt Bulls for Life Foundation of Alberta

Open to the public and friendly dogs on leashes allowed. Doggy games, pancake breakfast, BBQ Demos and more!

Doggie Dip for YMCA Strong Kids

Where: Jamie Platz Family YMCA
Can You Bring Your Pet? Yes!
Bring your pooch to the YMCA to swim in the pool before we drain it for our annual shutdown! There are different swim times for small and big dogs, and all proceeds go to support the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign. A minimum of $12 donation and registration is required. Please visit your local YMCA to register!
